Reopened Issue: "Cannot import webpart" after upgrade to v1.1 [2156]

Installing v1.1 ran finely without errors, enabling in Site collection also, but trying to add the web part gives "Cannot import this webpart" (however, the previous version was ok).

Getting this exception when adding the web part to a page. Was hoping to troubleshoot, but no source to peruse. Is it possible to review the source?

I can't enable SMART on this drive.
-s option, suggested by the output (see below) doesn't help.

With 2007 I am doing a preupgradecheck and it reports Path = [C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\SmartTools.WhatsNew\SmartTools.WhatsNew.webpart], Reference = [2], Status = [Missing]

I've re-installed and then uninstalled and tried other tricks with the exception of going in to the actual databases and removing any references. Only thing stopping me from doing this is I'm not sure where I should look in the first place.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this error?

First off, thank you for a great web part.

Second, I have an interesting issue...

Background Info:
I have a MOSS 2007 single server web farm with a SQL Server 2005 backend server.
I have created a Web Application and Site Collection and 2 Sub-Sites using a Host Header with port 80 (http://test) using the Default zone to be used inside the AD Domain using Windows Auth.
I have extended the Web Application using a Host Header with port 80 (https://extranet.test.com) using the Extranet zone to be used for external partners using FBA (SQL provder)
I also have extended the Web Application using a Host Header with port 80 (http://www.test.com) using the Internet zone to be used for public viewing using FBA (different SQL provder) but allowing for Anonymous
I have configured SharePoint AAM and have tested extensively. All sites are fully functional.

I then install the WhatsNew Web Part using the setup.exe included in the SmartTools.WhatsNewSetupV1_1.zip file.

When I add the web part to one of the sub-sites, it works perfectly in the Default zone (http://test).
I then switch to the the Extranet zone (https://extranet.test.com) still works.
But then switch to the the Internet zone (http://www.test.com) and I receive the following error:

"The "WhatsNewWebPart" Web Part appears to be causing a problem. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator."

Any idea why this would happen in the Internet zone (public) only?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated

I'm having the same problem - this web part doesn't work for my anonymous users. I'm fairly new to the world of Sharepoint, but have full admin access. How would I go about modifying the GetCacheKey function as documented here?

Created Issue: Uninstall leaves site(s) broken [7584]

Currently I have a WSSv3 site that uses the version 1.1 of the smart tools - whats new. I am trying to uninstall this in order to be able to convert this WSSv3 site to a SPF2010 site. When trying to do this previously without removing the solution, the 2010 conversion errors out becuase it cannot find any files for smarttools -whats new.
So I went back to WSSv3 and brought the site back up and installed a new VM with WSSv3 on it and made sure the v1.1 was installed and deployed. My site comes up and everything is working just fine. When I go into the installer and try to remove the solution everything runs fine the program executes and revoes the solution.
After I refresh my browser and try to view the site after uninstalling what's new v1.1 ig get the following error "An error occurred during the processing of . Could not load file or assembly 'SmartTools.WhatsNew, Version=1.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=08c06254711595b7' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. "
Is there something else that I need to deactivate or uninstall to clear this error so my site will load correctly??

The What's new webpart displays the modifcation time with an offset.

The UTC conversion should also be applied to the date formatting also, considering offset calculations around midnight: modifiedDateTime.ToUniversalTime().Date

If a chart is created and added as a webpart on the default ASPX page as part of a view. For Example "All Items" ect. The chart respects the view filters and displays the correct data. However if you create a custom ASPX or publishing page and insert a chart webpart to pull data from a view that uses filters it displays all of the items and discards the filtering.

Any help would be welcomed.

When a site contains more than 1000 lists which all holds data within the specified timeframe and is classified as new, the webpart throws the following error: "The query cannot be completed because the number of lists in the query exceeded the allowable limit. For better results, limit the scope of the query to the current site or list or use a custom column index to help reduce the number of lists.". This is caused by the fact that the Lists property of the SPSiteDataQuery object is formatted incorrectly.

now:
q.Lists = string.Format("<Lists BaseType='{0}' MaxListsLimit='{1}'/>", baseType.ToString(),this.MaxLists.ToString());

should be:
q.Lists = string.Format("<Lists BaseType='{0}' MaxListLimit='{1}'/>", baseType.ToString(), this.MaxLists.ToString());

Check differences between MaxListLimit. Also check blog below for clarification:

When I added the WhatsNewWebPart to the home page of my sharepoint site to help with tracking on document additions to the 1800+ sites that I have I get the following error and need to remove the webpart from the page before I can change any settings:
